BT: Tell us a little about yourself and your background. Your story: how did you get to Boca Terry?
JG: 25 years ago, I was asked if I could come in and help unload a container and here we are.
BT: What does a typical day look like for you as Boca Terry’s Warehouse Manager?
JG: A typical day for me as Boca Terry’s Warehouse Manager starts with reviewing incoming deliveries, open orders, and shipping deadlines. Throughout the day, I oversee receiving, inventory storage, picking, packing, and shipping. With products like bathrobes, towels, and slippers, I pay close attention to item counts, sizes, styles, and condition so customers receive the right products in good shape. My goal is to keep the warehouse running smoothly while making sure the team has what it needs to succeed.
BT: Boca Terry has changed quite a bit over the past 20+ years. How have you seen the warehouse and daily operations evolve?
JG: As Boca Terry has grown, keeping the warehouse running smoothly has required more coordination from receiving and organizing inventory to getting orders picked, packed, and shipped accurately.
What hasn’t changed is the importance of the people doing the work. An experienced team that knows the products and takes pride in getting orders right makes a real difference. The goal is still the same: take care of our customers and give the team the support they need to do that well.
BT: How important is teamwork between the warehouse and the other departments at Boca Terry? Customer Service, Sales, Shipping?
JG: Teamwork is essential because what happens in one department directly affects the others. Sales needs to know what’s available and what timelines we can realistically meet. Customer Service needs accurate updates to keep customers informed, and Shipping needs orders ready, correct, and properly packed.
From the warehouse side, we depend on those teams to communicate customer requirements, order changes, and priorities early. When everyone shares information and stays aligned, we can catch issues before they become delays or mistakes. Every department plays a part in getting the customer’s order right.
BT: Take us behind the scenes when a container arrives at Boca Terry. What are some of the challenges?
JG: When a container arrives at Boca Terry, it’s really the start of a busy process. The team has to coordinate unloading, inspect the shipment, verify quantities and quality, and then get everything organized for fulfillment.
Some of the biggest challenges are timing, logistics, and accuracy. Containers can arrive with a large volume of product that needs to be moved and stored efficiently, while making sure every item is accounted for and in perfect condition. Even a small delay or discrepancy can affect orders and delivery schedules.
BT: What is one thing customers probably don’t realize about everything that goes on behind the scenes before their Boca Terry order arrives at their door?
JG: One thing customers probably don’t realize is how many hands and steps are involved before their Boca Terry order ever reaches their door. From receiving and inspecting inventory to picking, packing, labeling, and coordinating shipment, there’s a lot of careful work happening behind the scenes. We want the process to feel effortless for the customer but making it effortless takes a lot of teamwork behind the scenes.
Fun Fact: What’s something people would probably never guess about you?
JG: I am a certified advanced rescue diver. I have been diving since 1989.
